		<description>in general, peer players know more than sportswriters or avid fans, but there are instances where that isn&#039;t the case.  vlad owns the rangers, so i&#039;m sure their staff think he&#039;s the toughest out in the game, which he&#039;s clearly not anymore.  when determining allstar reserves, players have a tendency to reward veterans for their careers, as do sportswriters and casual fans.  these awards are supposed to reward guys who had the best performance over a specific time frame.</description>

i agree with you hanson should&#039;ve won in the NL, but the voters who look at hanson&#039;s 11-4 record (i know, not the best way to evaluate a pitcher) hold the fact that he only made 21 starts after being called up in the middle of the year against him, while coglan&#039;s been up all year. coglan didn&#039;t have a better season, just a longer one...</description>
