MLB wants to keep the fans involved for the all star game, but at the same time- want it to mean something. Where do you draw the line? The idea was made out of desperation due to the tie in the 11th inning. I don't understand the big fuss- it was a great game. But baseball freaked out because bad fans had complaints so they rushed something into the agreement that really wasn't thoroughly thought over. That's the problem. It needs to be addressed. It was fine this year since the Yanks had the best record and the AL won the AS game- but what happens when it's opposite? You'll have more of an argument when that happens...home field advantage is outrageously important. It’s really a double edged sword. Yet it decides home field advantage? This makes no sense, and the best players are definitely in the game, many are indeed in the game because of the name. Example: Manny Ramirez received a over 100,000 votes for the all star game and he was serving a 50 game suspension. Fans should have a limited say in the all star game; perhaps let the fans only vote for the final spot for each team like the contest they have every year for the final roster spot.
