1) Jason Heyward-OF
You’ll get to see him play for yourself this year. Outstanding player. Enjoy the tomahawk Jason.
2) Freddie Freeman-1B
I know alot of people will tell you based on his ISO of under 1 last year, that he’ll never be a true slugger. I’m going to disagree. I think he’s got more power than people are letting on and I think he’s got the potential of hitting 30 or more if he continues to get stronger.
3) Arodys Vizcaino- SP
Came over in the Yankee trade and frankly- I like him. He’s a low to mid 90′s guy so obviously he can bring it. I worry about his mechanics a little bit but I think with time he should be able to clean it up. I also am in love with his breaking ball. His change up is developing nicely. Should be a great 2010 for him.
4) Craig Kimbrel- SP
Another outstanding pitching prospect coming soon to Atlanta. Another low to mid 90′s guy with an outstanding slider. He’ll set you up and punch you out with it. He’s got some control issues but most hard throwing youngsters do. He’ll figure it out in due time.
5) Julio Teheran- SP
As a Cub fan, I got to hear allll about Angel Guzman for many years. He was destroyed by injuries coming up through the system and I have a terrible feeling that Teheran could be that guy. He’s got outstanding stuff, and I hope he isn’t snakebit like alot of young throwing guys. And that’s the ONLY reason I dropped him to 5.
6) Ezikiel Spruill-SP
Sigh…another arm. Doesn’t it get boring in Atlanta watching all these pitchers come up through the system? Just wondering. Upper 80s to low 90s guy, but is REAL young. It’ going to be a process- but stay patient with this one.
7) Randall Delgado- SP
Another arm- ho hum. Plus stuff- and like a broken record has to improve the command. 91-95 is nothing to sneeze at. You have to wonder what Atlanta is planning on doing with all these young guys.
8) Cody Johnson-OF
An outfielder! Finally! Alot of Mark Reynolds in this guy. Home runs came in spurts, but so did the strike outs. That doesn’t seem to be as big a deal anymore as it used to. He might never hit for average, but if he can walk like Adam Dunn- they’ll find a spot for him.
9) Adam Milligan-OF
Had a great year in low A. Has the potential that most do. I want to see him in the upper levels before I can put him in the top 5.
10) Mike Minor- SP
I’m going to take a flyer on him. The first round pick last summer has some good stuff. I don’t think he’s any better than the guys ranked ahead of him, but if your drafted in the top 10- clearly the organization believes he’s going to be a darn good pitcher for them. I know alot of fans don’t like him- but all I have to say is…be patient…it takes time for guy to get used to playing pro ball. We’ll know more this year.
