I'm not saying the guys you've named will never ever make it and aren't talented. Don't get me wrong- they got some talent...but I believe the potential plus the talent of the guys of my list outweighs the combined talent and potential of the ones you've named. That's really the logic behind it- and who knows what will happen. I could be right...i very well could be dead wrong- that's the great thing about judging minor league talent...its all a guessing game until they come up to the bigs and do it.

We'll have to agree to disagree I guess, 55-60 power at AA with defense is a lot of potential, near MLB-ready. Real knock on him is plate discipline, but hopefully that can improve. You may be right about the trading, we'll see. It's just tough to put Sanchez or Heathcott ahead of guys with high ceilings who have already performed at rookie ball or higher. Your list though...

Gary Sanchez was signed for a huge amount of money from the DR- so therefore I think he's worthy of being in the top 10 as they obviously think very highly of him.

I'll be frank- I don't think the Yankee system is that good. I personally have them in the lower third of the league in terms of talent due to the fact they trade alot of their talent for major league stars now. And there's nothing wrong with that as it works- but when you do strip the system regularly- it's hard to over slot them.

All prospects are ranked upon potential. That's why they're considered a prospect. There is no such thing as a sure thing prospect. You can go through a million names throughout the last 25 years that were "can't miss guys" but missed. Some make it...some live up to the potential...but the fact of the matter is not everyone does. All anyone can do is look at the tools and make the best assumption at the time. That's what makes this game so great.

I put Sanchez ahead of Romine simply because Romine isn't going to jump over Montero, and Sanchez I believe has a better chance to be an impact guy if Montero doesn't pan out. Romine IMO will be traded before he gets to that point so if he breaks out- it'll be for another ball club. Jorge is going to catch a year or 2 longer and they'll turn it over to Montero full time by I believe 2012 if not sooner...by that time...you'll know more about Murphy and Sanchez so Romine just doesn't seem to fit in the plan- which is why I left him out of my top 10. If I were to continue...romine would probably be my 11th or 12th guy.

Almost nobody has reliable scouting reports on Gary Sanchez as almost nobody has seen him in significant game action. Sickels ranked him seventh based on little more than what he believed the Yanks' bonus money said about what their scouts thought of Sanchez as a prospect. Your list is weighted very heavily toward potential, but you ignore some surer (rather, more probable) things who have great upside too, especially Romine but also guys like David Adams and Adam Warren.

Do the Yankees still think highly of Andrew Brackman? I remember him being one of their top prospects.

He was signed at 16 by the Yanks out of the Dom. Rep. for somewhere around 2.75 million. Apparently he can hit- and supposedly is just a big dude. He's gonna need some time to develop, but I doubt he has a better career than Jesus Montero
