Chris Coghlan had a good season in 2009, but I think regression is coming.

There is a rumor going around about sending Gordon Beckham to the San Diego Padres for Adrian Gonzalez. I think it would be a smart move to acquire Adrian Gonzalez.

Is Ryan Dempster Underrated?

Posted on Tuesday, February 23, 2010

Ryan Dempster made the conversion from closer to starter for the 2008 season. This conversion was a success as he won 17 games with an ERA of 2.96. He followed up his 2008 season by posting an ERA of 3.65 for 2009. In 2009 he proved his season in 2008 was no fluke. You would [...]

Since I have a better understanding of baseball, there is one trend I have noticed and that is the more I learn about the game, the more I realize that those in the mainstream media are wrong. I see this as a problem because I feel that the mainstream is doing a disservice to the [...]

2010 Offseason Review: AL East

Posted on Monday, February 8, 2010

AL East
Baltimore Orioles
Key losses- Chris Ray, Danys Baez
Key additions- Kevin Millwood, Garrett Atkins, Mike Gonzalez
Off-season grade- C+
Justification- Kevin Millwood provides some leadership for the Orioles young staff. He’s also very durable and that should keep the young staff from pitching too many innings. Garrett Atkins is a nice low risk/high reward signing. Mike Gonzalez stabilizes [...]

2010 Offseason Review: AL West

Posted on Friday, February 5, 2010

AL West
Los Angeles Angels
Key losses- Vladimir Guerrero, John Lackey, Chone Figgins, Darren Oliver
Key additions- Hideki Matsui, Joel Piniero, Fernando Rodney
Off-season grade- C
Justification- Losing Lackey hurts, but if Piniero can pitch like he did in 2009 he’s a better pitcher and cost less than Lackey. Matsui is a good choice to take over the DH spot. [...]

2010 MLB Off-Season Review: AL Central

Posted on Monday, February 1, 2010

Chicago White Sox
Key losses- Scott Podsednik, Jermaine Dye, Chris Getz, Octavio Dotel
Key additions- Juan Pierre, J.J. Putz, Mark Teahen, Andruw Jones, Omar Vizquel
Off-season grade- B-
Justification- They did improve the outfield defense by letting Jermaine Dye go. They got some nice pieces for the bench in Vizquel and Jones. Juan Pierre gives the Sox speed at [...]

Posted on Sunday, January 31, 2010

The Oakland Athletics signed former Brewers pitcher Ben Sheets to a one-year, $8 million contract. This is a surprising move by Billy Beane considering he likes to sign players on the cheap and this signing is anything but cheap.
All things considered I really like this signing for them. I know a lot of people will [...]
